The Combat Desert Jacket (CDJ) is a lightweight, wind resistant, lightly insulated, water repellent jacket for multi-season use in desert operations. It will provide protection against wind, blowing sand, light rain or snow and is compatible with the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform, fleece pullover and cold weather underwear. The Combat Desert Jacket (CDJ) is intended to provide Marines increased protection from the unique environmental nature of the desert. The CDJ provides moisture management through the use of soft shell fabrics, flexibility/mobility through strategically placed stretch zones, anti-microbial protection through the use of X-Static� The Silver Fiber� and minimally impacts combat load due to its light weight. The CDJ is designed as a high performance winter shell to be used where high performance apparel and equipment is needed most. W.L. Gore & Associates has engineered GORE� Military Fabrics specifically for the Combat Desert Jacket (CDJ). The different fabrics in each part of the jacket are customized so that the wearer receives the highest level of protection and comfort during changing desert environments.
